Edward Coke Appellate Inn of Court Meeting

As a reminder, the Edward Coke Appellate Inn of Court will be holding its first meeting of the Term next Monday, September 24, 2018.  As usual, we will meet at the Dolley Madison House, 1520 H St NW.  Our cocktail hour will begin at 6 pm, and we will move upstairs at 7 pm for a conversation with Solicitor General Noel Francisco about the Supreme Court’s upcoming term.

Inn of Court Meeting and Call for Officer Nominations

I’m writing to remind you that we will be meeting next Tuesday, June 5, for our final Coke Inn of Court meeting of the term.  As usual, our cocktail hour will begin at 6 pm, and at 7 pm we’ll move upstairs for a discussion with three prominent Supreme Court reporters—Ariane De Vogue, Robert Barnes, and Tony Mauro—about their impressions of the Court’s current term.  Inn of Court member Tejinder Singh will moderate.

Joint Coke Appellate Inn and Giles S. Rich Inn Meeting

I’m writing to remind you of our upcoming Inn of Court meeting, to be held this Thursday at 6 pm.  This meeting will be a joint meeting with the Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court, an Inn devoted to IP practitioners.  Our program will focus on recent decisions by the Supreme Court in patent and copyright cases, including their implications and potential responses to them.  Paul Clement, of Kirkland & Ellis; Mark A. Perry, of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; and David Kappos, of Cravath, Swaine & Moore will all participate as panelists in a conversation moderated by Chief Judge Susan G. Braden of the Court of Federal Claims.

Our next Inn of Court meeting will be this coming Monday, November 13.  Our cocktail hour will begin, as usual, at 6 pm, and at 7 pm we’ll move upstairs for a program featuring a conversation with the General Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives, Tom Hungar, and the General Counsel of the U.S. Senate, Pat Bryan.  Melissa Patterson will moderate.

Coke Appellate Inn of Court Meeting

The first Inn of Court meeting of the Term will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017.

The program for our meeting will be a discussion with the Acting Solicitor General or, if the Senate has acted by then, a newly confirmed Solicitor General, moderated by Inn President Doug Letter. 

We will start the meeting with drinks and appetizers at 6:00 pm at the Dolley Madison House.  At 7:00 pm, we will then move to the main Courtroom at the Federal Circuit for the program. 

If you are not able to attend, please let Inn Secretary Ben Snyder know by this coming Monday, September 11. 

If you wish to drive to the meeting and park in the garage at the Dolley Madison house, but have not previously provided your current vehicle information, please send Ben up-to-date car information (make/model, license plate #).

Finally, if you have recently changed jobs and have not provided updated information to the Inn, please let Ben know that as well so that he can update your name tag
